Comparative study of the functional outcome of semitendinosus graft versus peroneus longus graft in arthroscopic reconstruction surgeries of anterior cruciate ligament

چکیده
Background: ACL disruption is the commonest ligamentous knee injury among active adults, invariably leading to changes in kinematics which are most likely result secondary degenerative and long-term functional impairment. Thus, due ACL's crucial role as primary restraint against anterior tibial translation, its reconstruction using varying graft options being extensively studied for better outcome. Methods: In this prospective study, we analysed 30 patients having tear (clinically radiographically) treated with arthroscopic of ACL. Among these, 15 cases were operated semitendinosus by peroneus longus tendon graft. The study was conducted a tertiary care hospital from January 2021 June 2022 minimum follow up 6 months maximum months. Results: Mean Lysholm score (post op) Group ST 90.6±3.18 PLT 92.2±2.65. Score IKDC grading between two groups comparable showed no significant difference. Post-Op laxity assessed Lachman’s normal findings 70% patients, remaining 30% (9 patients), 5 group 4 1+ at examination. Conclusions: Arthroscopy assisted autograft provides steady knee, reduces postoperative donor site morbidity enables early rehabilitation, similar traditional autograft.

OBJECTIVES The aim of the study was to evaluate the results of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using a peroneus longus tendon (PLT) autograft. METHODS The study included 29 patients (27 males, 2 females; mean age 30 years; range 21 to 39 years) who underwent ACL reconstruction using a PLT autograft and interference nail fixation. Fourteen patients (48.3%) also had partial meni...
متن کاملGraft Selection in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
Advances in surgical technique and rehabilitation have resulted in marked improvement in the outcome of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction over the past 10 years. Most recent series approach a 90% success rate in terms of restoration of knee stability, patient satisfaction, and return to full athletic activity.1 The optimal graft material remains controversial, regardless of the gr...

Background: Good clinical outcome and return to sport and daily functions after anatomical arthroscopic anteriorcruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is goal standard in this surgery. but to date, there are different challengingissues between orthopedic surgeons regarding graft selection and surgical techniques. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the patients who underwent anatomical arthrosc...
متن کاملGraft Choices for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
The question of which graft to use for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction continues to be debated at meetings around the world. The overall choice of grafts consists of autografts, allografts, and synthetic grafts. By far the two most commonly used grafts are central third bone-patellar tendon-bone and hamstring tendon, either semitendinosus alone or semitendinosus combined with gr...
متن کاملGraft selection for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
More than 100,000 anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions are done in the United States each year. With improvements in technology and surgical ability, the number of variables that must be considered has increased dramatically. The choice of autograft or allograft, which is one of the most important variables, has largely become a decision to be made by the surgeon and the patient. It is cr...
